About Us

Shaun Adkins - Owner and President

Shaun grew up in the coalfields of southern WV, nestled in the splendor of the Appalachian mountains. Upon graduating high school, he sought to continue his family's long and proud military legacy (dating back to his great grandfather in WWI) and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.

Deploying to the Middle East in the fall of 1990 for Operation Desert Storm, he served as both a combat engineer and engineer operator.

His post military career was grounded primarily in construction trades and construction supply, in both sales and managerial capacities, but his experiences as a combat veteran would persist to shape his vision for his professional career, and more importantly, his life.

Shaun utilized many of the same virtues exemplified by the Marine Corps in the founding of Best Kitchens of TN and continues to rely on them as part of his daily operation of the company. Values like teamwork, honor, pursuit of excellence, and a tenacity for getting the job done no matter what it takes.

His beautiful wife, Rachel, is not only the love of his life, but the pillar of their home in Morristown, TN. They each had two grown children when they met and now have nine precious grandchildren.

His love of family and faith in Jesus Christ are what drive and inspire him each and every day. Shaun's other passions include travel, charity, being a foodie, all kinds of music, and kicking back for some football on a fall afternoon.

Our Team

Michael Perdue

Operations Manager

Michael recently joined the company full time, coming on board as our Operations Manager in the summer of 2025 to help manage our next phase of growth. He brings eight years of marketing and sales experience to our company and is a driver for our adoption of software and departmental cohesion. Michael has studied in Europe and China, and speaks several languages. Outside of work he enjoys building software, learning languages, and reading and writing. He’s passionate about his rapport with clients and ensuring a frictionless customer experience.

Matt Phillipson

Production Manager

As our Production Manager, Matt has been foundational to our overall growth and sits at the bedrock of all operations over the last two years. From overseeing cabinet assembly, quality control, and warehouse ops, to managing our many deliveries to ensure smooth handoff, we can rest easy knowing Matt is at the helm. And it’s no surprise given his previous line of work in the Park Service as a Park Ranger- serving The Great Smoky Mountains, Lake Mead, and even Yosemite! Matt is also a combat veteran of the US Army Infantry, thank you Matt! Outside of work he is a passionate member of his church and dedicated husband to his wife Kelly and family of four children. You’ll find Matt spending his off time in the great outdoors or furthering the ministry.

Mona McGrew

Kitchen Design Specialist

Mona began with Best Kitchens right from the onset of the company’s inception, setting up shop in the makeshift office space and cementing herself as an integral part of our growth and success throughout the previous years. She brings a depth of knowledge to her work encompassing over 35 years in the art and custom furniture space to complement a decade in the cabinet industry. On her off time she enjoys painting murals, teaching art, and watercooloring. She strives to accommodate any budget and style and to provide the best customer service possible for all of her clients during and after installation, always exceeding expectations. "It is my belief that quality cabinets are an investment that brings lasting value to your home."

Sheri Van Bruggen

Kitchen Design Specialist

Sheri joined our company in August of 2023 and has been a pivotal team member, crafting beautiful, functional spaces with an authentic passion to help her clients. She brings over three decades of industry experience both as an interior designer and a Cabinet Design Specialist. Sheri is known for her attention to detail, centering her client's needs with her knowledge of all things cabinets. When she’s not helping design a dream kitchen, she loves day trips to the Smoky Mountains, weekend getaways to visit her Texas family, and baking and cooking with her kids. And of course, taking care of her two Greater Swiss Mountain “lap dogs”. Sheri is excited about “the work family we are creating at Best Kitchens of Tennessee: the like minded people with a strong work ethic and a love to help others” and we could agree more.

Michelle Bode

Kitchen Design Specialist

Michelle joined our team in June of 2025 after an impressive 20 years with Lowes with a career that encompasses installation coordination, interior/ exterior project design, and kitchen design work. Not only is she new to Best Kitchens, but Michelle recently moved from the Garden State of New Jersey last year, and brings that can-do northern enthusiasm to every project. While she's an expert with any project she lays hands on, she particularly loves old homes, the detail, character, and work done by skilled masons and craftsmen. Just like her love of older homes, she enjoys working with people to create spaces they will enjoy for years to come. In her off time you can find Michelle gardening or dreaming about raising a farm full of chickens, ducks and goats, or baking up delicious goodies.

Tom Williams

Field Liaison

Tom has been with us since October of 2023 serving as our Field Liaison, assisting our team with measurements and public relations. Tom is truly an expert, having owned his own custom cabinet manufacturing business for 30 years and working in the industry for 50. When he’s not off in the field, you can probably find him traveling or by the stream casting a line. We’re thankful to have him on our team!

Jaden Barnes

Production Associate

Our newest team member Jaden came on board July 2025 as a production associate to help with our expanding business. Previously, he worked in the milling industry in both grain and wood milling. When he’s not assembling cabinets or delivering them across East TN, he loves reading, gardening, and researching. Jaden is an excellent addition to our team, ensuring excellence in production and his work.

Spencer Phillipson

Production Associate

Spencer is our part time Production Associate, a critical help in times of high output and with the many projects needing to be assembled and delivered. He has a special attention for detail and is meticulous with his work and handling of your cabinets. In his off time Spencer enjoys knife forging, making hyper detailed and impressive works of art.
